Buying Military Style Shooting Glasses

You know when you’re watching a movie set in a modern day warzone? Ever noticed how most of the soldiers seem to be wearing cool sunglasses?

For years I watched these movies and assumed that the filmmakers had no idea what they were talking about.  I thought the sunglasses were part of some stupid product placement deal, and it annoyed me a little bit.

When a friend of mine came back from Iraq I mentioned it to him, and it turns out that soldiers do actually wear these things.  They not just regular sunglasses, but the best shooting glasses money can buy.

Shooting glasses have all the same features of regular sunglasses.  They’re polarized to protect from glare, but they also comply with ANSI Z87.1, the industrial eyewear impact standard.  Even cheap shooting glasses can withstand an impact of a 1.1lb projectile dropped from a height of 50 inches, and they’re designed to brush off shrapnel and ejected shells, protecting the eyes from flying crap in the air.

The more I thought about it the more it made sense.  A soldier is useless if he can’t see, so it’s perfectly sensible to deck him out in a pair of tough sunglasses that mean he won’t be bothered by eye irritations (which is the polite way of saying ‘shards of exploding glass firing into his retina).

Suffice it to say, I rushed out and bought myself a pair almost immediately.  I usually just wear basic goggle when I shoot down at the range, but when I’m outdoors it’s always a bit of a pain to have to squint against the sun while I aim.  A pair of dark shooting glasses will definitely come in handy.

By the by, while I was shopping for military style shooting glasses I also came across the best cheap shooting targets I’ve ever found.  These bad boys can tell you if you hit your target from way out on the range thanks to their design.  I can’t wait to get out and test them!

High Standards of Fitness in the Military

It’s not denying that people in the military, overall, are very fit. This is mainly due to the months of boot camp training as well as years of self discipline. While researching on how to retire early, I came across some info about vitamins and read some Herbalife reviews about taking vitamins to help the body stay healthy. I somehow ended up reading an article about how many people who used to be in the military, once they get out, lose their discipline.

The article goes on to talk about how for most people in the military, the standards that they set for themselves and live by are the highest while they’re still in the service. The reason why the standards decline once they leave is because their environment changes. When they were still in the service, they were surrounded by people with the same high standards. Since it was the norm, staying disciplined and working out and eating right to stay fit was easy. Once they got out, they were surrounded with people with lower expectations of themselves in terms of fitness and discipline. So basically what the article was saying is that if you want to make sure you stay fit and healthy, surround yourself with people who already live the kind of lifestyle that it takes to be fit and healthy.

The Importance of Vocal Coach Training

The Importance of Vocal Coach Training

When you speak, a teacher can hear and see what is wrong when you can’t see for yourself. A coach will help you develop a better understanding of your voice. Sometimes your progress halts, and that is when you need a vocal coach to help with your training and improve your speech patterns.

A vocal coach will help you correct problems you might not be aware of. A coach can help you speak with other accents. A good vocal coach will stretch you with each lesson. You need a vocal coach who can explain technique to you in a way that will help you understand and improve.

If you wish to do a British Voice Over, you will need someone who fluently speaks British English. It is good to do voice exercises so you can use all the different pitches that your voice is able to use. Your voice can be changed by excitement and stress, so it is important to train your voice before you start public speaking, reading or doing voice-overs. Daily exercises are also useful in between your vocal coach lessons and this will make a big difference when you are speaking.

Spruce Up Your Sun Room With Outdoor Bamboo Blinds

When you are planning your next outdoor get together, you might want to think about
sprucing up the area where you will host your guests, to help them relax and enjoy the time
spent together better than they would have if you were to leave your sun room in it’s typical
shambles. One great, cost effective method for sprucing up your outdoor area is by using
natural wood outdoor bamboo blinds and shades. These shades can go to great lengths to help
spice up the look and feel of your sun room, without going overboard and busting your
budget at the same time.

When you are ready to start shopping for a new set of blinds, you are going to want to
make sure that you take your time in order to find the best price. One of the best ways I
have found to ensure you are getting a great deal is to use Amazon.com. Amazon
aggregates hundreds of retailers, as well as reviews left behind by previous customers, to
help you ensure that the product you are purchasing is going to last a long time (because,
hey, you don’t just want them for the party!) and that you are going to get the best deal
from competing vendors.

Mittens – Winter Essentials

It’s that time of year once again, – time to dig out all your winter woolies … thick sweaters, scarves and of course your favorite mittens for winter. There’s nothing worse than being out and about in the snow and ice, all wrapped up but for your hands. There’s something about wearing winter gloves that makes all the difference in the world.

I’ve used a pair on insulated woolen gloves for a long time, a true mitten in every sense. All that’s missing from mine is that piece of string that connects one to the other, via the sleeves of my coat! Truth be told I’m way too old for that kind of thing but no matter, it still makes me smile when I think back to my childhood, boots on feet, mittens on hands (and just about anything else my mom could think of to keep me warm!) and a whole world of snow right outside the front door.

As an adult I’m more likely to be outside clearing snow from the path than I am playing in it but that doesn’t mean that I don’t need a good pair of gloves on my hands. I also have a dog to walk, and my children don’t care how old I am when it comes to taking them out on their sled! I can’t recommend enough about making sure you have a great pair of mittens for winter, more so if you work or spend a good portion of your day outdoors. Trust me … there can’t be anything worse that frostbitten fingers!

An LED Flashlight is Your Best Option

Flashlights are a necessary tool in for your household. You just never know when an emergency will take place or the electricity might go out. It doesn’t matter if it’s an emergency situation, a backup in the car, or even camping, your flashlight plays an important role. Your traditional flashlight is simply not as dependable as it should be. The batteries can die quickly and without notice. The same story with the bulb. Even if the bulbs doesn’t go out, it can grow significantly weaker over time and be utterly useless.

With LED technology, flashlights have gotten a lot brighter. LED flashlights are one of the easiest and best investments you can add to your household. A strong LED flashlight is about as awesome as an Bushnell Elite 6500 Scope. The flashlight will last longer, be more durable, and most importantly, more dependable than your old fashioned flashlights. A lot of homeowners and hunters have made the transition to LED because it’s the best option out there.

The bulbs of an LED flashlight will last for a minimum of 60 of continuous use before needing to be changed. They can withstand drops that would demolish those old-school lights. LED bulbs are also 60 times brighter than standard bulbs. The intense, bright white light will stay strong for hundreds of hours. You will get your money’s worth.

DEET vs. Natural Mosquito Repellent

I often think that the most annoying thing about enjoying your time out of doors – beyond the terrible weather that always seems to fill my weekends – is the fact that I’m forced to go up against the swarms of mosquitoes and other nasty creatures that seem to fill every inch of space outside my front door.  I’m often forced back indoors much sooner than intended covered in bites and scratching madly at my arms and legs.

For many years I happily used DEET as a mosquito repellent.  DEET is a powerful chemical the kills mosquitoes dead in moments, and it solved the problem of mosquitoes in a snap.  Unfortunately it also melts plastic in a snap.  Zippers and other plastic things will just melt like butter – the zipper of my travel toiletry bag melted so badly that it is now sealed shut forever.

Now I’ve switched to a natural mosquito repellent in an effort to save my plastic items.  Natural mosquito repellent don’t use DEET, but instead they use plants and herbs such as cedar and menthol to get rid of the bugs.  Much kinder for the environment.

Now I’ve switched from DEET to a natural mosquito repellent I’ll never go back.

Laos Tubing for Total Fitness

Until I discovered Laos tubing I was in no way into exercise and fitness, I must admit.  I have terrible joints, so most high impact sports and exercises cause me nothing but agony.

Discovering Laos Tubing

When I discovered Laos tubing, though, this all changed.  I was visiting the town of Vang Vieng in Laos, tubing capital of south east Asia, when I discovered a great low impact form of exercise.  I’d been applying for a Thai tourist visa in Vientiane, capital of Laos, when I headed to Vang Vieng for a short break.  Laos tubing entails floating down the Nam Song River in Vang Vieng in an inflatable inner tube.  Doesn’t sound like much work?  No? Well, you’d be right.  Laos tubing is an effortless activity, and most of the people tubing down the river in Vang Vieng are, in fact, drunk.

Laos Tubing for Fitness

Fortunately, you can use Laos tubing as part of a fitness regime as long as you can ignore the drunk fools tubing down the Nam Song.  While tubing doesn’t offer much in the way of steering, it is in fact possible, with a lot of effort, to steer yourself from one side of the river to the other.  In a week of Laos tubing I taught myself to work against the current and zig zag from one side to the other. developing my triceps and burning a hell of a lot of calories.  Laos tubing helped me shed several pounds of unsightly fat, and it was a great way to develop those tricky upper arm muscles.

Laos Tubing Every Year

I now partake in Laos tubing at least once a year for a period of a few weeks.  I fly in to escape the Chiang Mai weather during the wet season.  Twice a day I float down the Nam Song river in Vang Vieng for three hours at a time, pushing myself from one side to the other.  When I begin to tire I can rest in my inner tube, then pick up the pace for a final burst of exercise towards the end.

Laos tubing may not be for everyone, but if you can make it to Laos – or anywhere with a suitable slow-flowing river – you can take part in the one of the best exercises I know.  Laos tubing is both effective and fun, and when you find a form of exercise that you look forward to every day you don’t let that pass you by.
